Top 3 beaches! Maui, Hawaii (Mini Series)

If you have been suffering from frigid temperatures or dreaming of being on a sunny beach, then look no further than Maui! It is no secret that one of my favorite places in the world is Maui, Hawaii! I am doing a mini series this week that will focus on amazing things to do and see in Maui! We will start with my favorite the beach!

Kaanapali Beach

Crystal blue waters meet the golden soft sand of Kaanapali beach!  If you love to play in the ocean, the waves and current are pretty calm. It is also a great place to lounge and play in the sand.

Kaanapali beach spans about 4 miles but my favorite spot would be right in front of the Royal Lahaina Resort. The beachfront is not crowded like other spots on Kaanapali beach and there is no rocks, seaweed or coral that you may step on while playing in the water. I have not stayed at the Royal Lahaina but I am tempted to because of it’s fabulous location!

You can reach this beach by driving to the resort and parking in the parking lot. The link below is a google map of the location (Take Honoapillian Hwy to Kekaa Dr and take a right, follow the road till  you reach the large parking lot at the end, walk through the resort to reach the beach. There is a restaurant at the pool that you could grab a bite to eat for lunch!)

Maluaka Beach (Big Beach)

“Big beach” is one of my absolute favorite beaches I have ever been to! The beach is enormous and so are the waves! It’s a great place to body surf but you must be careful because huge waves sometimes crash on the beach! You can see Molikini and Kahoolawe island from the beach.

The waves tend to vary by season and time of day. When it’s a bit calmer you can skim board and swim easily. We have spotted dolphins in this area as well. This beach is a fun, exciting place to swim and play in the waves but may not be the best for small children. There are no places to eat at “Big Beach” so it’s best to pack a lunch.  Also on the other side of the lava rock there is a trail that leads to “Little beach”, be warned it’s a clothing optional beach! I noticed families taking the hike to the beach only to turn around quick and head back!

Kapalua Bay Beach

Last but definitely not least is Kapalua Bay Beach. Another perfect beach that looks like a magazine photo! Not only is the beach gorgeous but the waters offer fantastic snorkeling! Because it’s a bay the water is calm and great for little ones to play in. The beach isn’t huge and can get a bit crowded but it’s worth it! During the winter (Jan- April) we have spotted whales splashing from the beach! There is also a few resorts surrounding this beach that have restaurants for lunch.
