West Palm Beach, FL- Marriott’s Ocean Pointe vacation club

In May 2011 we took our one year old on a trip to West Palm Beach, FL. We stayed at the Marriott Ocean Pointe Vacation Club and had an amazing time!

The pool facilities were incredible! Plenty of places to sit, fun music playing, large pool, hot tubs and the occasional silly contest that the staff is putting on. We loved taking our daughter for a dip and they even had a splash park for the kids! My only complaint would be the splash park was freezing cold water! Luckily the pool and kiddie pool were warm.

The room was spacious and included a living and kitchen area separate from the bedroom. We ended up cooking several times in the kitchen and it was pretty well stocked with all the pans/utensils you need.

The ocean view was pretty incredible! However not all rooms have this view.

My picture of the room was not the best but you can get an idea of how it is! The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for the pack n play that they brought up for our daughter. The bathroom was typical and there was nothing special about it.

The beach is why you come here! I think they must clean it every day because there is no seaweed or trash anywhere! Take note of the cabanas they are inviting but not free.

The sand was soft and our daughter had a blast playing in it! The waves that came in were pretty mild and would get her legs wet. The ocean itself is this beautiful clear blue and very warm!  Overall the beach was one of the best I have ever been to.

Activities: There is no good snorkeling or activities on site but since we were with a one year old we didn’t mind. We enjoyed how close the resort is to the beach (just steps away) and that really meant a lot when nap time came! It was so easy to get our daughter back to the room, bathed and put down for a nap. Then me and my husband could relax in the living room separate from her. If you have kids that love the beach and pool this is a relaxing and fun resort to stay at!

Restaurants: A look inland. As you can see there isn’t any restaurants or grocery stores. You have to take about a 10 minute drive to get to one. We didn’t love that. However there is a Pizza Hut at the resort and if you get to the grocery store you can make your meals for the rest of your stay. This is a great feature for families and saving money. I do remember passing by a mall on the way to the resort so about 15 minutes away you could do some shopping/eating out.

Pros: To recap this resort is set up for families! Plenty of room to relax in with the suite set up. The pool and beach access is top notch. The beach itself is pristine and warm.  Pizza Hut on site, nice work out facility and overall a great place to stay.

Cons: Not a lot of activities, no restaurants/stores within walking distance and freezing cold splash park for the kids (my daughter ran to the park but left quickly once she felt how cold it was!)

Cost: ($293-$490 a night) To be honest it’s expensive for us and I wouldn’t have normally picked this resort by price. However we were taken as guests with our family and now we are hooked! The resort is so nice and the beach, pool and convenience is worth the price. We only got two full days and I feel like we could have easily stayed 4 days. Next time we go to Florida this resort stop is on our list!  When that happens I will take better photos and update this post!
